  Great NEW Kitchen with fantastic equipment. New Main Building. It's where you use the Bathrooms (Hint Hint), sleeping quarters BASIC. And I mean Basic, just what we were looking for.

  Good Counsel Camp is my favorite place in the entire world! I’ve been attending this camp as a camper for 9 years and I’ve always made sure to attend one summer after another. At camp you can be yourself, get out of your comfort zone, try new things, and meet new friends from all over.
  
  You are always busy doing all sorts of different activities. A few of the activities are but not limited to: Swimming in the pool, shooting a bow and arrow in archery, firing a 22’ in riflery, canoeing, making arts and crafts, playing Italian golf, going fishing, playing recreational sports, sliding down a slip and slide, playing man hunt, and so much more. You get to do fun things you can’t do just sitting at home. Also you get to do fun team building activities with your cabin mates that helps you to build friendships with them. I can guarantee there’s something for everyone and the friendships made will last a lifetime.
  
  From my experience, I’ve always had such wonderful counselors that try their hardest to ensure a great experience for every camper. Each counselor is different and has their own personality but one thing is certain, They are each very friendly and help make sure everyone is safe (and having a good time.) One night during my first year, I got rather homesick and missed my parents. My counselors comforted me and made my homesickness disappear in a instant. The counselors are trained to handle situations like these and help campers, just like they did for me.
  
  Camp is a gorgeous place in the middle of nature. It is rustic and and doesn’t pretend to be anything it’s not. It is what a true summer camp should be like. By the way, campers aren’t allowed to have their cell phones. Some people would freak out about this, but in all honesty, not having your phone is the best thing ever. You don’t have to worry about any of your social media, you get to focus on what’s actually happening at camp, and no one else has their phone so you don’t feel like you’re left out of not having it. Don’t worry though you can still send and receive letters to your parents and friends (which is more meaningful in my opinion.) Also some people might be worried about no A/C in the cabins. This is no big deal. You are outside most of the time and when you are inside the cabin you got a nice fan to keep you cool (get a box fan if you do plan on attending.) And when everyone’s fans are on, it’s like you have A/C anyways. This place helps you realize that you don’t need everyday luxuries to be happy and it helps you enjoy the simple things in life.
  
  Good Counsel Camp is also a catholic camp. You start the day with going to morning mass and end it with a chapel talk by one of the counselors. (A chapel talk is when a counselor uses their life experiences to teach the campers about different topics of their chose. For example: Being kind to others, overcoming your fears, etc.) It is a nice and simple way to incorporate God into each day at camp. Being in nature, you fully get to immerse yourself in the world God made. It’s the perfect amount of faith without overwhelming you. I’ve realized from going to camp that you can appreciate God not just in church, but through everything you do.
  
  In conclusion, Good Counsel Camp is a great place where kids of all ages can have fun and be themselves. You always have stuff to do, you make life long friends, the counselors guarantee a safe environment, you get to enjoy the simple things, and you get to appreciate God in your life. Whether it’s one summer or multiple, Good Counsel Camp will have an affect on your life for the best!
